SpecStudio Launches in the Middle East with New Dubai Office
SpecStudio is expanding into the Middle East with the launch of our new office in Dubai, strengthening our ability to support architects, developers, consultants and project teams across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA region.
The expansion builds on our existing experience delivering specification consultancy on major international projects and gives clients in the region access to SpecStudio expertise with a dedicated local presence.
Introducing Henry Nelson
Henry Nelson
Managing Director – MENA
Henry has 16 years’ experience in architecture and construction, gained through roles in architectural practice, multidisciplinary consultancy and project management in both the UK and the UAE.
His career has developed from the technical design and coordination of buildings into the leadership of architectural specifications and the management of complex multidisciplinary projects.
Before joining SpecStudio, Henry led multidisciplinary specification departments and teams in the Middle East, overseeing the development and coordination of architectural and engineering specifications across complex projects.
Working closely with architects, developers, operators and specialist consultants, he developed a practical understanding of how design information must evolve from initial concept and material strategy through procurement, construction and final delivery.
As Managing Director of SpecStudio MENA, Henry is responsible for establishing and leading the company’s regional business. His role encompasses client relationships, business development, operational management and the growth of the MENA team, while maintaining an active involvement in project delivery.
He brings a locally informed perspective to SpecStudio’s international expertise, helping ensure our specification consultancy responds to the region’s design ambitions, procurement routes, regulatory requirements and construction practices.

Building on Our Middle East Experience
The Dubai office represents the next stage in SpecStudio’s international growth, but our work in the Middle East is already well established.
Our experience includes supporting Snøhetta on the Royal Diriyah Opera House in Saudi Arabia, providing specification consultancy through Concept, Schematic and Detailed Design using CSI MasterFormat.
This experience has reinforced an important principle behind our approach to international specification writing: specifications need to be developed for the region and project in which they will be used.
It isn’t simply a case of taking a UK specification and converting it into a different format.
