Island Project Site Visit

The SpecStudio team were treated to a site visit of the Island building in Central Manchester.

Island is a state-of-the-art Grade A office development by Cartwright Pickard, who we support on a number of their projects.

This project was designed to the latest Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, achieves a 5-star ‘Design Reviewed’ NABERS rating, meets the WELL Gold Standard and is benchmarked against the LETI and RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge initiatives.

Originally owned by the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, Island now stands as the future North West HQ for Virgin Media O2 and serves as a symbol of Manchester’s commitment to environmental and social innovation in workplace design.

SpecStudio Support

We supported the team at Cartwright Pickard with the preparation of their Architectural Specification using NBS Chorus.

Using the Uniclass format, we worked with the design team throughout Stage 4 to deliver a tailored and robust Architectural Specification for Tender.

Collaboration

Using NBS’s cloud-based Chorus, our team were able to build and prepare the specification in Cartwright Pickard’s NBS Chorus space, allowing their team to view and access the specification throughout it’s development. This allowed for real-time feedback and easy collaboration.

It was great for the team to be taken on a tour of one of our completed projects, as it’s quite rare we get this opportunity, and to see in real life the outcome of the specifications that we write.

Island is a stunning and beautiful building, and we are proud to have contributed to it’s success.
